IHASA undertakes peace initiatives aimed at finding a durable peace for the entire region of the Horn of Africa. Current intiatives include:

Ogaden Peace Initiative

• Promoting first and second track mediation and conciliation between Ogaden insurgency groups and the government of Ethiopia.
• Advocating and encouraging the International Communities and the regional players to facilitate a dialogue between the Ethiopian government and the insurgency groups in the Ogaden.
• Engaging the United States Congress, the Obama administration, the United Nations and the African Union on taking active and principled stand on this neglected conflict in the Ogaden.
• Organizing annual peace conferences on the Ogaden conflict.
• Supporting and providing conflict resolution trainings to religious, political and community leaders engaged in peacemaking.
